We learned in the past that Sprint was planning on skipping quite a few versions and making the jump from 1.5 straight to 2.1 and as far as when, we were simply told that it would be in the first half of 2010. Well, in a little bit of good news, Sprint has decided to offer a nice little update on the process.
“A while back we announced our plans to update our Android devices to 2.1 in the first half of 2010. I just wanted to follow up with a quick status. The 2.1 update is currently being tested and things are going very well so far. We’re still targeting the first half of 2010 and if things continue to go smoothly we should have the update well within that time frame. I’m sure there will be a lot of questions about procedures and more exact time-frames but for now I won’t be able to say much more. I just wanted you all to know that things are still on track.”
So, it seems that they are right on track, a little disappointing that they still have not narrowed the time frame down any. But at the same time, grateful to hear that they have not pushed it back either.
Additionally, this update will affect both the HTC Hero and the Samsung Moment. Another item that is still in question is how Sprint is planning to roll it out.
