It seems to me that we have seen this happen once before only to see Archos pull the update, but nonetheless they have rolled out the Android OS 1.6 update for the Archos 5 Internet tablet.
According to the Archos support page the latest update includes;
- New Android 1.6 “Donut”?- Optimization of applications on the high-resolution screen of the ARCHOS 5 IT?- New “Quick Search” to find your Apps, Music, Contacts, and browsing history and get suggested search results as you type?- Easy access to battery saving features (wifi, screen, gps, etc.) show me
- New version of office documents viewer (ThinkFree Mobile 1.2)
Basically, if you are an Archos 5 owner, then head on over to the Archos support page (link below), choose your device from the drop down and then download and install the update.
Additionally, performing this update will not erase any of your current media such as music or video but it will, repeat it will require you to re-download and re-install any apps that you may have installed from AppsLib.
