It may not be the Android 2.0 update that many Droid Eris users are waiting for, but similar to the Motorola DROID, the Eris is now in the process of getting its own over-the-air update.
According to the details, the roll-out for this update is already underway and will bring the ROM and Radio version up to 1.16.605.1 and 2.32.40.11.09 respectively. As to what this update is correcting, adding and/or fixing.
• While on a call and the device is in screensaver mode, pressing the
• End key now takes the device out of screensaver mode, and a second press will end the call.
• On-call mute and speakerphone icon functionality is enhanced.
• Upgraded functionality after activation eliminates the delay users were experiencing in receiving their first call.
• Device now switches effectively from 1x mode to 3G.
• Device no longer requires users to reselect a default email after power-cycling.
• SMS and MMS messaging delivery is improved.
• Eighty-character MMS/SMS message subject lines are now allowed
• Improved picture messaging functionality allows messages from LG phones to be opened.
Unfortunately without a Droid Eris in my hand I cannot verify this one personally so if you are an Eris user then hit the comments below and let us know if you have received the update, and more importantly let us know if it seems to be helping.

Not yet here, either.
Nothing here. Anyone know how Android updates even appear? In the market?
The Droid Eris is anything like the DROID update wise, then you will receive a pop=up message on your phone indicating that an update is available. At that point, you'll just follow the on-screen instructions.
If not, then you'll want to head into the Settings option, go down to 'About Phone', and then look for 'System Update'. if it's not there (because I'm going off my HTC Hero, and there are other menu changes in the Eris, so it could be different), then it could be under 'Security'.
I recieved the update this afternoon. Seems to work well
I GOT IT THIS MORNING, YOU CANT USE YOUR PHONE UNLESS YOU DO THE UPDATE SO FOR NO COMPLAINTS !
I still have NOT yet received the OTA update…what gives?!
I'm in NJ and still don't have it
I got mine today. One difference I noticed right away was it is harder to unlock the screen. My wife has an Eris as well that is not updated. You can touch anywhere on the screen and drag down to unlock it. With the update yo have to touch on the time bar and drag down. Frustrating. I guess I will unlock it with the menu button instead.
My wifes phone got the notification, but once clicked on nothing happened.
I've experienced the same thing with the unlock screen. Thank you for mentioning to hit the menu button, a little wacky but it works
12/12 @ 2335 and still no update. Funny, my wife is not a tech junkie and really couldn't care less and she got it on the 10th at 1400 hrs.
Figures.
got "update" 12/11 @ 9:30 pm PST and it didn't ask it just went in. and now i'm waiting for a new phone to get shipped to me. same lock screen problem but worse, had to take battery out 5 times to unlock the screen. dropped a call, then locked and battery had to come out to reset. also, lost a few apps and reinstall did allow/bring back all the features of one of my favs; Astro File Manager. called tech supp, told to go into store for OS reinstall, they said i need a new phone. i luv my droid, and i hope this is just a one-time-on-mine lemon update. i always cross fingers and toes when updating. if the new phone has that lock screen problem, then i'm raising hell.
I got the update. It seems like it broke Google Voice. I’m going to reinstall it…
My update came 12/12…was getting peeved about the unlock screen not working until someone mentioned touching the time area and sliding…kind of obnoxious vs just sliding anywhere on the screen. Have only had phone a few weeks, so don’t have too many apps to have had any affected.
Got my update on 12/12 as well. I noticed the screen unlock "improvement" right away. I also think the phone is using the battery more slowly, but that could be my imagination. I could never make it through a whole day of work before (phone just on standby, playing with apps over lunch). Now I have battery to spare at the end of the day. Haven't had a chance to confirm the other changes, two of which only affected new phones, but I can't tell you how many calls I hung up accidentally with the red button. Now, if only they can make a voice dial feature that understands my voice and is fully voice controlled like my old Razr (no touching beyond pressing the green button). That would be something.
New slide unlock is obnoxious. Menu button is better, but is missing the fun of original slide unlock.
I’d like to make up a playlist from another website then, place it on my myspace web page. Would I get my account deleted?
One of my preferred artists, thank you! You are able to find loads of their music this above at this website
