The Android GPS navigation market is becoming a crowded field, and NDrive has announced that it has will join the crowd with the release of its app into the Android Market. Previously seen on iPhones, NDrive has debuted on the Android Market to compete with Google Maps Navigator and several other GPS apps.
NDrive provides turn-by-turn voice directions, multiple-location itineraries, and marking locations as favorites. It includes other standard GPS features like support for trip planning, quick re-routing to adjust to missed turns, and a points of interest search engine that includes contact information and descriptions of each location.
Maps for various countries are available and range from €25.00 – €45.00 depending on the country. There are also regional maps available for portions of Europe and Africa. Maps are downloaded and run on the phone, making it possible to search and navigate even if a data connection is lost. NDrive is compatible with Android 1.5 – 2.0, so everyone from G1 owners to Hero users should be able access the app (No word on 2.0.1. support but I doubt that anything has changed in that version of Android that would present a problem for most apps).
Here’s a video of NDrive working on iPhone:

I tested NDrive with an earlier build. Although it did look very sleek and the interface & functionality was good, it lost connection with the GPS module a lot so I was forced to use CoPilot again. Hope they improved, could be a great (although pricey) product.
I am somewhat new to the Android OS (Sprint Hero), but how do you pay for apps and why are they listed in euros?
Google Checkout converts the cost into US dollars automatically. If you want to check before buying, search online for the conversion rate.
the ndrive application is for free in the Google Market. you purchase the maps in the application itself.
My recent post You make Jo'burg great
its doesnt look like google checkout to me ( purchase copilot using google checkout without a problem ) with ndrive ive tried to purchase a uk map 3 times yesterday and instead of a confirmation you get a blank screen !! ive checked but i hope i havent been charged for those failed attempts
How come it cost so much for some countries than others. Like southern Africa 70 euros.. …American is bigger and more condense more of everything so would make sense should cost more for more of the work.
