Vodafone UK sending Android “Donut” update starting Oct. 19

If you’re craving Donut on your HTC Magic serviced by Vodafone UK, don’t worry; you haven’t been forgotten. Vodafone expects to begin sending updates for Android 1.6 beginning October 19!

In response to subscribers wondering when they’d be able to take advantage of the new features offered by Donut, a Vodafone forum administrator confirmed that the carrier would begin rolling out over-the-air updates to its UK subscribers. Keep in mind that this is a roll-out that begins October 19th, meaning subscribers will start receiving the update that day; not everyone will get it at the same time.

T-Mobile USA began rolling out Android 1.6 to its customers last week, which promptly led to customers of other networks wondering when they’d get the privilege. Vodafone UK subscribers can hold on for 10 more days and hope that their phones will show an available update. Then they’ll be able to see what Donut can do and figure out what new features are available.

[Thanks for the tip, Carl!]
