Once again, in a bit of news that seems to have been overshadowed by the Verizon Droid announcement — we have some good news in regards to yet another upcoming Android handset.
That handset I am referring to is the HTC Eris and it is being reported that it will be priced at $99 upon launch. But to be a little more specific, that is $99 on contract, and there has not been any mention of whether or not that price comes with any rebates.
That said, this report comes by way of Peter Rojas of Gizmodo, Engadget and gdgt fame.
“Things are about to heat up, I just found out from a very trustworthy source that the Eris is going to be priced at $99 (with agreement) when it comes out.”
Of course, we should point out that as of now there has not been anything firm in regards to the release date, however earlier rumors pointed to it coming on November 6. It looks like Verizon is heating up the Android game, things seem to be getting exciting. At least here in the US, we now have T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon, not to mention the upcoming Google GPS solution to look forward to.
