Android Market adds new categories for themes, comics, health, and sports

See, Google does listen. The Android Market has updated to include four new categories: Comics, Health, Sports, and Themes. Aside from giving developers and users a more specific classification options, this will help address the annoyance of Entertainment and Lifestyle categories being crowded out by comics, aHome themes, FotMob skins/wallpapers, and the recent influx of sports-themed RingClips.
The new categories are kind of light at the moment, leading me to believe that many developers haven’t been informed of the change to switch their apps to the new classification. At the moment, I’m seeing Pro Football Live listed in Entertainment rather making the switch to Sports. Likewise, there are still a number of themes for Open Home, Better Keyboard, aHome, dxTop, and football (soccer) club trackers in the same category.
The new classification structure is likely the first step in a series of moves to improve the Android Market browsing experience. We already know that the market will get screenshots and better browsing techniques soon. Let’s hope the Android team is able to continue improving the Market experience.

Nice to see themes and comics out of the way. Would have liked books and sound boards to go the same way too.
