Well, that didn’t take long. Roughly a week after being released, members of the XDA Developers Community have gained root access to the T-Mobile myTouch3g. Earlier this morning, XDA member Amon_RA tweeted that the myTouch had been rooted, and instructions soon followed at the forum. He posted this message to announce the rooting process availability:
After a lot of trial and error we finally did it! Many thanks to Jrbourque for being a tester with balls (he could have bricked his phone) and Haykuro for all the tips and tricks . Please give them credit where credit is due.
Rooting a phone gives users access to core functions of the device. A rooted phone can do things like install custom themes and install apps to the SD card. However, we have to remind users that rooting your phone is a risky, dangerous, super-costly if a mistaken is made, process. If you make a mistake, there’s a chance you’ll mess up your phone and be stuck with a useless $200 clunk of metal.
If you still want to root your myTouch, knowing that it is a risk, instructions are available at the XDA forum.

$200.. I wish. I paid €354 for mine.. about $520 at the time I got it. I am taking no chances with rooting my phone… ha ha ha.
It would be wonderful if google voice have rooted in ihone.
