Google unveils Listen for Android, allows users to find “podcasts and web audio”

Google has recently announced a new app for Android users, its called Listen and as something that should make die-hard Android users happy — Listen is only available for Android.

In short, Listen is a podcast application that is designed for Android.

Listen from Google Labs brings podcasts and web audio to your Android-powered device. It lets you search, subscribe, download and stream. By subscribing to programs and search terms it will create a personalized audio-magazine loaded with fresh shows and news stories whenever you listen.

Unfortunately, as with any early release, Listen does have some limitations. As of now, Listen is currently only indexing “thousands” of sources, which means that your favorite podcast many not be easily found. Additionally, for anyone who prefers a non-English source, you will have some waiting to do because as of now those thousands of sources are “English-only.”

Otherwise, this is one app that I am excited to see and hopefully watch grow. Listen is currently available in the Android Market, and as you would hope for, it is a free app.
