Sprint, HTC Hero. HTC Hero, Sprint. Confirmation seems but an official announcement away: the HTC Hero is coming to the United States under Sprint…and maybe AT&T, too?
The FCC has just approved the HTC Hero to run on the CDMA2000/EVDO on cellular and PCS band. That approval points to the Sprint PCS network being the first to unleash the Sense brand of Android to America. Considering the recent rumors that Sprint would release the Hero October 11 and a screenshot of an HTC support page mentioning Sprint, it seems even more likely.
The FCC previously approved the Hero to run on 850/1900 MHz bands, which signaled that the device would appear on AT&T. This previously put a dent in Sprint rumors, but it now seems more plausible that the Hero will not be carrier-exclusive so both networks may offer it. That FCC filing was “NM8HOT” and the CDMA-approved Hero is labeled “NM8HERO200.”
