Talk about a rumor that keeps resurfacing. This is certainly is not the first time we are hearing about an Android phone coming from Acer, but this is one that seems like it will keep coming back until we actually see a release.
It was back in March when we first heard that Acer would be launching the A1 in September, then that was followed by a less than encouraging report from Acer stating that it would be “likely” that they would release an Android handset in 2009.
Anyway, the latest report is going back to suggesting a release as early as September.
“Acer plans to launch four smartphones, the A1, C1/E1, F1 and L1, at the end of September and in the fourth quarter of this year”
“The A1 is an Android-powered model, while the other three are based on Windows Mobile platform, the sources noted”
Basically, not all that much to get super excited by, other than a little more confirmation that a handset will be coming. That and, it seems like the name will more than likely be the Acer A1.
