ThinkFree adds complete Office productivity suite applications

Android has another entry into the field of applications supporting the Microsoft Office suite. California-based company ThinkFree, Inc., has announced that it will soon unveil its suite of Android apps that replicate the Office experience.

Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents can be used in ThinkFree Write , ThinkFree Calc, and ThinkFree Show. The apps support several formats, including Office 2007 .docx files.

ThinkFree will demo its Office solutions at the COMPUTEX trade show June 2-6 in Taipei, Taiwan. It will be publicly available in July, however only to view documents. Editing capabilities will be delivered in Q4 2009.

DataViz has managed to capture much of the Office attention, but ThinkFree believes it can hook consumers with its online services. CEO Su Jin Kim said in a statement:

“With ThinkFree Mobile for Android, we manifest our leadership position in the online office suite and Web collaboration space…After the success of our ThinkFree Mobile Netbook Edition, we are thrilled to have partnered with ARM for the Android platform.”

Other ThinkFree selling points include:

  • Integrated with ThinkFree Online, which can sync documents between devices
  • Comes with 1GB of free, secure online storage
  • The ability to draw objects within documents
  • It can edit PowerPoint documents

Supported File Formats:

  • Documents: rtf, doc, docx, xml
  • Spreadsheets: xls, xlsx, xml, csv, txt, html
  • Presentations: ppt, pps, pot, pptx, ppsx, pots
