Despite a few false starts, it looks like we have some details on when we can begin to see the Cupcake update actually hitting users phones here in the US. Anyway the latest “leaked” and/or “rumored” release schedule has it set to begin rolling out on Monday May 18 and ending a week later on Monday May 25.
- 5% of Android Devices will receive the Android 1.5 Cupcake Update on Monday, May 18th
- 15% on Tuesday, May 19th
- 30% on Wednesday, May 20th
- 45% on Thursday, May 21st
- 60% on Friday, May 22nd
- 75% on Saturday, May 23rd
- 90% on Sunday, May 24th
- 100% on Monday, May 25th
Now once again we can sit back and wait to get our update. Unfortunately, this update is only going to be available OTA (over-the-air) which means we are forced to sit back and wait which has not been easy so far. Of course, we do understand the staggered roll-out. After all, if something goes bad on day 1 then it will be much easier to deal with 5% of customers being angry as opposed to 100% of the customers angry.
Here is to hoping that the Androinica writers and readers are among that first 5% to get the update on Monday.
