Android’s on-screen keyboard has been given the skin treatment thanks to Better Android. In a new paid app,  Better Keyboard changes the look and functionining of Android’s keyboard. Bigger keys are used in order to increase accuracy, and gesture controls like swiping left or right will automatically bring up symbol keys.

Many Android users are still getting acquainted to the new soft keyboard brought on by the Cupcake update. HTC Magic users have had even more experience since its their only option for keying in Android. Better Keyboard adds a few tweaks that some may find useful. Aside from the obvious aesthetic and spacing changes, it vibrates on keypress and auto-capitalizates. The changes are then applied to apps across Android 1.5.

Better Keyboard costs $1.99. There are already five skins for the app available in the Android Market.
