It looks like the unlimited calling plan has gone live with T-Mobile, of course as of now the plan does have some limits — notably with who is able to take advantage of it. Currently, and as last weeks report suggested, it is available for “loyal” customers who live in San Fransisco. As far as being a loyal customer, that requires you to have been with T-Mobile for at least 22-months.
As for the rest of the details, users can switch to this new plan with no contract extension and can also add additional unlimited voice lines for a slightly discounted $39.99.
So, this all sounds great, but what does it really mean for T-Mobile G1 users? Well, it looks like you can end up saving a few bucks each month. Assuming you take the $49.99 calling plan and then add $9.99 for unlimited messaging and $24.99 for data, you will be looking at a pretty decent $84.97.
The T-Mobile web page does list this offer as being available only for a “limited time” but makes no mention of any end date. Bottom line, if you are in San Fransisco then you may want to check and see if this will work out to be less each month and make the switch ASAP. For everyone else, we can only hope that it works out well during the test period and quickly spreads to all customers.
Finally, T-Mobile is also offering the $135 credit when you transfer a line from any other wireless carrier.
